We’re a nostalgic bistro and wine bar in Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood with seasonal European-American cuisine, classic cocktails warm hospitality and a cozy setting.

Cru is a locally owned restaurant and wine bar in the heart of the Brookside Neighborhood. The vision of husband-and-wife co-founders Hannah Koenig and Avery Bailey, Cru thoughtfully reimagines KC’s rich culinary history through comforting, eclectic American cuisine with deep European influences. The restaurant's design evokes the warmth and casual elegance of the historic neighborhood that serves as our inspiration. 

Our menu spotlights a seasonal selection of dishes that change frequently with an emphasis on locally sourced proteins and produce including: salads, imported cheese, charcuterie, risotto, fish and steak. Wine is paramount to the Cru experience, with a 200+ bottle-deep list, and a 20+ by-the-glass selection gracing the menu at all times. Classic cocktails honor the craftsmanship and history of Kansas City distilleries as does the curated collection of beers from local breweries.

We’re two people who fell in love and decided to open a neighborhood restaurant. We live here, we work here, and we built Cru from the ground up with our own hands—no investors, no corporate backing, just big hearts and a deep love for hospitality. We’re proud to be locally owned and operated, and even prouder to invest in the people who bring this place to life— our team, our guests, and our community. We’re not here to scale— we’re here to do something meaningful, right here in Brookside, one genuine connection at a time.
